Love of water:
David’s love of the water started with his uncle Jimmy. His uncle used to take him for rides on his windsurfer and explore beach breaks, body surfing in Maui. Jimmy also introduced David to kayaking at the age of 14 when he took him out on one of his guiding routes of the Mink River Estuary with what used to be Living Adventures, out of Rowley’s Bay.
Schooled
David spent his summers in Ellison Bay during his College years working for Bayshore outdoor store as a guide. A Evergreen State College graduate, David majored in Outdoor Recreation and Alternative Energy. His senior project was focused around two projects; Building a Biodiesel processor and working on a Kayak Tours business plan. David trained for his ACA (America Canoe Association) coastal certification in the Puget Sound and he received his Coastal Certification in Chicago.
Though it hasn’t been the easiest, David loves being an entrepreneur and will never be too far from the water, even if is in snow form. Now that Door County Kayak Tours has grown into a business that supports his lifestyle, David is in the planning mode of creating ecological international trips based around quiet sports, the environment, and the local culture.
Play
Kayaking has been David’s love and passion since he was 14, thou recently Kitesurfing has taken a lot of his time and energy. In a desire to continue to share his love and passion, David has introduced static line kites to some of his kayak tours. Imagine launching a kayak and traveling downwind surfing the waves and reducing your effort by letting the kite pull your kayak.
